Los Angeles-based Clothing Manufacturer will Create Full Line of Juniors and Women’s Fashion Apparel Featuring Designs and Imagery from iconic Tamagotchi Property
TOKYO and LOS ANGELES (September 3, 2013) – Bandai Co., Ltd. and its North American marketing representative Sync Beatz Entertainment are proud to announce the signing of one of the industry’s most respected and innovative companies, Los Angeles-based Mighty Fine, Inc., as first licensee for its Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. line of lifestyle products.
Through their agreement, Mighty Fine will create a complete fashion apparel line for Juniors and Women, including activewear, T-shirts, bodysuits, dresses, fleece, pants, shorts and skirts which feature a contemporary take on the characters and design elements of the classic Tamagotchi brand.
The agreement was brokered by Woodland Hills, CA-based Evolution USA, LLC, which serves as Sync Beatz Entertainment’s retail development and licensing partner for the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. property in the U.S.
“When we saw the millions of kids who grew up with Tamagotchi and still love the brand today, and our success producing inventive women’s fashion, we recognized this as a great opportunity,” said Patty Timsawat, COO, Mighty Fine. “We also appreciated Bandai’s marketing acumen to expand ‘outside the Tamagotchi shell’ and allow their original fan base to experience the brand as young adults.”
“We are delighted to partner with an organization as respected in its category as Mighty Fine,” said Naomi Tobita, Chief Tamagotchi Officer, Bandai Co., Ltd. “We look forward to working together to help them produce distinctive and popular fashion apparel for many years to come.”
The Mighty Fine alliance kicks off the next phase for the new lifestyle brand – the introduction of a wide range of licensed products from home décor to accessories – that embody the spirit and qualities of the original Tamagotchi experience.
With the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. Website and its Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Pinterest pages having launched in early November 2012, and the establishment of the “Hometown Heroes” program in January ’13, the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e, brand is resonating strongly with fans of the popular toy, which has sold over 80 million units in 54 countries and territories during the past 16 years. In early 2013, Bandai successfully launched the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. App, an authentic recreation of the classic Tamagotchi game play with a contemporary spin, which has generated over 2.5 million downloads. Three Tamagotchi-branded Facebook pages featuring the new lifestyle property have amassed over 150,000 Facebook “likes.” Links to those pages follow: http://on.fb.me/YuXzHw http://bit.ly/TamaReSetting; http://bit.ly/GotchiFacebook
